The Level 2 Award in Security Guarding qualification enables delegates to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Security Guarding licence. 

The course provides delegates with an excellent understanding of security issues to meet the increasing demand for well-trained operatives in the UK security industry.

Who should attend?

Upon completion of the course and once delegates have received their SIA Security Guarding license, they may work in the following roles:

  • Office Security Guard
  • School/College Security Guard
  • Hospital Security Guard
  • Factory Security Guard
  • Shopping Mall/Retail Security Guard
  • Public Building Security Guard
  • Contract Security Guard

Course Content

Training is delivered in two parts as follows:

Unit 1 - Role and Responsibilities of a Security Guard (2 days)

This includes the responsibilities of security officers, customer care, social skills, fire safety, health and safety, dealing with incidents and emergencies, civil and criminal law, control of keys and equipment, assignment instructions and reporting.

Unit 2 - Communication Skills and Conflict Management (2 days)

This includes candidates managing conflict by applying a practical approach to risk, the importance of self-awareness, acting proactively, teamwork strategies, methods to resolve conflict and learning from conflict.
